Regional eligibility

Do referral codes work in other countries?

A company can operate in two countries while its referral program, reward, and qualifying actions remain different in each one.

Sometimes—but “available here” is not enough

A referral code may work across borders, only within one market, or not at all. The result usually depends on more than the website opening. You need to match the provider’s service availability, referral eligibility, the referrer’s program, the new user’s residence and account market, and the location or type of the qualifying action.

Currency does not define your account market

Choosing dollars, euros, or pounds generally does not move an account into that country’s referral program. Providers often use verified residence, registered address, legal entity, or account enrollment market.

The five regional checks

CheckQuestion to answerWhere to verify
Service availabilityCan the new user open and use this product where they live?Official availability or supported-country page
Referral eligibilityDoes this particular referral program include both countries?Referral terms for the live offer
Referrer marketWhich regional program issued the link or code?Referrer’s invite page and terms
New-user marketWhich country will govern the new account?Signup disclosures, residency and account terms
Qualifying actionMust the purchase, deposit, transfer, or delivery occur in a specific market?Reward conditions and exclusions

The answer can fail at any layer. A service may operate globally but limit a campaign to selected residents. Or the referral may be accepted while the benefit changes by country. Treat the live offer page as a regional document, not a universal promise.

What current official terms show

These examples were checked September 12, 2026 and can change. They demonstrate the questions to ask, not permanent country lists.

Wise: availability, account location, and invite program are separate

Wise says some services are unavailable in certain countries and regions. It also says a registered address determines where an account is based and which terms apply—not the currencies held. Separately, Wise says invite programs are assigned by region and the guest’s discount can vary by region. Official Wise availability guide, account-market explanation, and standard invite guide.

Coinbase: residence can change referral eligibility and reward

Coinbase’s simple referral terms say bonus eligibility can depend on country of residence, identify excluded locations, and state that bonus amounts can vary by country. The same page also describes a separate EEA program with its own qualification window. Official Coinbase referral program.

Rakuten: both people must meet the regional rule

Rakuten’s US Refer-A-Friend FAQ says both referrer and referred person must be located in the 50 United States, D.C., or Canada to qualify. That is narrower than asking whether someone can merely visit the website. Official Rakuten Refer-A-Friend FAQ.

How to check a cross-country referral before signup

  1. Open the official link without starting signup. Confirm the domain and read the displayed benefit.
  2. Find the offer-specific terms. Look for eligible country, state, province, residency, legal entity, and “void where prohibited” language.
  3. Check both sides. A referrer can be eligible while the new user is not, or the reverse.
  4. Match the account market. Use the country where the user actually resides and will verify the account. Do not substitute a VPN, mailing address, currency, or travel location.
  5. Check the qualifying transaction. Confirm eligible payment methods, transaction destination, product, and deadline.
  6. Save the terms. Keep the offer date, region, and requirements in case the reward is later reviewed.

If the code is rejected, work through the referral code troubleshooting order. If signup already happened, the late referral code guide explains why changing the account market is not a safe workaround.

Travel, phone numbers, and currency can be misleading

Being physically present in an eligible country during signup may not establish residency. A local phone number may satisfy contact verification without changing the account’s legal market. Holding or spending another currency may be an ordinary service feature rather than referral eligibility.

Similarly, the referrer’s link opening cleanly does not prove the newcomer’s account will qualify. Eligibility may not be decided until identity checks or the qualifying action. Enter accurate information and let the provider determine eligibility under its terms.

Use Everette Affiliate as a starting point, not regional proof

Everette Affiliate organizes community-submitted referrals by company. A listed link can lead to a legitimate provider page while the underlying offer remains unavailable in your country or account market. Verify the current provider terms before signup.

Then check who receives the referral benefit, which deadline controls, and whether the destination is legitimate.

Next check

Make sure the offer is still within every deadline.

Code validity is only one of four dates that can matter.
