Trace the referral from click to payout
A referral reward is rarely one event. Check each stage in order:
- Attribution. The invited person used the correct link or code at the required time.
- Account eligibility. The account is genuinely new or otherwise eligible under the program terms.
- Qualifying action. The required purchase, deposit, receipt, installation, trip, verification, or other action was completed in time.
- Validation. The transaction cleared, required verification finished, and the company did not mark it ineligible.
- Pending period. A return, cancellation, fraud, chargeback, or account-review window may still be open.
- Posting or payout. An earned reward may appear in account activity before it becomes withdrawable, payable, or usable.
Start at the first stage you cannot prove. Completing a qualifying purchase does not repair attribution that was never recorded, and seeing a referral in a tracker does not always mean the action is complete.
Read the company’s status label literally
Invited, joined, or tracked usually confirms only that the person or link was recognized. Action needed points to a remaining milestone. Pending means the provider has not finalized the reward. Completed or earned may still precede a payment schedule. Ineligible, canceled, or reversed needs the provider’s reason before another attempt.
A pending reward is not automatically late
Compare the status date with the program’s stated review and posting timeline. Wait until that window ends before escalating, unless the status itself shows an error.
How current programs describe tracking and timing
These official US references were checked September 12, 2026. The offer displayed in an account can differ and should control.
Fetch
Fetch’s My Referrals area distinguishes people who still need to snap a receipt from completed referrals. Fetch says both the code and the first receipt matter, and a first receipt submitted before the code can make the referral ineligible. Official Fetch referral tracking and missing points guidance.
Dropbox
Dropbox shows statuses including Invitation sent, Waiting for install, Waiting for email verification, Completed, and Ineligible. Those labels make it possible to identify the unfinished step before contacting support. Official Dropbox referral status guide.
Chime
Chime directs members to Profile and Invite friends to monitor referral status. Its standard offer requires the friend to use the link and finish the qualifying steps within the stated windows; reward amounts and requirements shown at enrollment can vary. Official Chime referral overview.
Rakuten
Rakuten’s referral activity can show a friend as pending when they joined but have not yet made a qualifying purchase. Rakuten says Cash Back confirmation commonly takes time because it depends on the store reporting and validating the order; its FAQ currently describes a typical confirmation range of several weeks. Official Rakuten Refer-A-Friend FAQ.
Coinbase
Coinbase separates different incentive programs. Its affiliate help says to allow up to 48 hours after all stated criteria are met before contacting support, and notes that a hold period can apply. Its simple referral help describes a separate reward window for eligible transactions. Read the terms for the exact offer instead of combining the two timelines. Gather evidence without exposing private information
- The offer page or terms as they appeared when the referral began.
- The referral link or code and the date it was used.
- The signup confirmation and the qualifying action date.
- The amount and type of qualifying transaction, with full account and payment numbers hidden.
- The current referral status and any error or ineligibility message.
- The expected posting window stated by the company.
Do not send passwords, one-time codes, full card or bank details, recovery phrases, government ID numbers, or screenshots that reveal them.
Send a focused support request
Use the company’s official in-app support or help center. State the referral date, qualifying action, displayed status, expected timeline, and the single question you need answered: Which eligibility step is incomplete or ineligible?
Ask for a case number and save the response. The provider—not the referrer or Everette Affiliate—has the attribution records and authority to approve, deny, reverse, or issue a reward.
Be prepared for three legitimate outcomes
It posts after the normal wait. No further action is needed. Support corrects a documented error. Save the resolution and confirm whether both parties are affected. The provider finds the referral ineligible. Ask for the controlling rule, but do not create duplicate accounts or repeat transactions to work around it.
If the provider says no referral was attached at signup, read whether a code can be added after signing up. If the original code was rejected, use the referral code troubleshooting guide. Confirm which person the terms actually reward and whether a qualifying or redemption deadline passed.
